Parents- 3rd through 8th grade state assessments will be given in April. Please take a look at the dates classes plan to test to help ensure students are present ON EVERY day his or her class tests. This helps us tremendously to not have to schedule make-up tests. If you have dentist/doctor appointments scheduled for any of the dates your child is schedule to test, please reschedule them, if possible.
If your child is present for all of his or her test sessions, he or she will earn ice cream! Thank you for being flexible and helpful as we plan for test season!

We hope the anthologies will be powerful mentor texts in classrooms across Oklahoma."
"With over 300 entries, this is quite an accomplishment, and we thank you for sharing your student’s writing/art with us!
Winning students, their teachers, and up to two guests are invited, free of charge, to join other published writers and artists to be recognized and to share a one-minute excerpt of their piece or an artist statement of their artwork. "

Garrett had a fantastic day at the Junior High State Powerlifting Meet. He was the lightest lifter in the 145 pound weight class, weighing in at 135 pounds. He set a new personal record (two times!) on his squat, a new personal record on his bench, and a new personal record (two times!) on his deadlift. Last week at regionals, his total weight lifted between the three lifts was 615 pounds, and today at the state meet he totaled 665 pounds. It speaks to his hard work and dedication in the weight room that he was able to qualify for state in his first year of powerlifting. The future is bright for Garrett and the rest of the powerlifting team.
Great job, Garrett! We are proud of you! #viciproud

Red Ribbon Art & Essay Contest Winners Announced by OSHOF
The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame will honor 13 elementary, middle and high school students throughout Oklahoma this year for their Red Ribbon Week Art and Essay Contest winning submissions based on the 2024 Red Ribbon Week theme “Life is a Movie. Film Drug Free.”
These recipients, consisting of Oklahoma public and private schoolchildren, ages 7-18, will receive honoree medals, commendations from Governor Kevin Stitt and a poster board of their winning submission. It is with great pleasure that we are able to recognize their talent and achievement!
We are extremely proud of our 2024 honorees and their pledge to live a drug, alcohol, tobacco and vape-free life, as well as the over 3,035 additional students statewide that pledged to live drug-free!
2024 Red Ribbon Week Art & Essay Contest Celebration Honorees include TWO WRITERS OF THE YEAR from Vici: Rythem Boswell and Landon Coleman!
Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame is unable to host this year’s Red Ribbon Art & Essay Contest Celebration. We truly appreciate our committed partners like the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Tommie Johnson III, as well as Gimme Sugar OKC for their continued support in being involved with this annual awards ceremony. It saddens us that we are unable to honor our Artists and Writers of the Year in person; however, we look forward to delivering medals of achievement, commendations and poster submissions to the winning students at their respective schools.
Congratulations Rythem & Landon! We are so proud of you! #viciproud

Vici Elementary teachers and students celebrated Read Across America week and kicked off 🏀📚MARCH BOOK MADNESS!📚🏀We are reading 16 of the teachers and staffs' favorite books over the next 4 weeks and voting on our favorites! The first 2 books to advance to the Elite 8 are The Cat in the Hat and Pout-Pout Fish!
Everyone at school is enthusiastic about reading, and Coach L planned some unique PE lessons that incorporated a book and movement!
Also, a few VES classrooms had some guest readers from the Indians Baseball team and the Lady Indians Softball team (and Vici Alumna, Kloe Nelson). We love it when the big kids come read to us, and we will have more to share about collaborating with big kids throughout the month. Thank you, Spencer, Kason, Maddox, Kaydence, Zoey, Hannah, and Mia for reading to classes today!
March is National Reading Month....and we encourage parents and families to read together! Happy Reading! *More photos in the comments
